Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Engineering (Engineering Institute) was established in 2009. It serves as the petroleum engineering high-tech research and development center (R&D), and the domestic and international petroleum engineering technology support center. It is engaged in the tasks of strategic planning, scientific research, product development and technology application in drilling, completion, logging, well testing, reservoir stimulation,CCUS and offshore petroleum engineering。It has led and participated in the construction of one national key laboratory, three national innovation platforms, seven Sinopec key laboratories, two industry key laboratories, and the joint "the Belt and Road" laboratory of China & Saudi Arabia for petroleum energy. It has 9 professional laboratories for rock mechanics, drilling and completion fluids, reservoir protection, cementing and downhole tools, etc. respectively; also 4 basic laboratories for analysis and evaluation of physical and chemical properties, rock core physical property testing and analysis, synthetizing and evaluation of additives, and electronic circuit testing, respectively.
