Scores of foreign experts admired Chinese variety art while sipping the aroma of jasmine tea at Laoshe Teahouse, Qianmen, on the evening of April 23.

　　To mark CPC centenary and to build a community with a shared future, proposed by Chairman XI Jinping, a show was held by Beijing Overseas Talents Center(BOTC), who has long been an advocate for enriching local life experience for high level talents. The event on April 23 was a latest one on the theme of a wonderful life in Beijing.

　　The show opened with an address from Mr HU Yixiong, Deputy Director of BOTC. He welcomed foreign experts and introduced the organization 's function and vision.

　　For most of the audiences, performances like multi-plate spinning, pot balancing, tea ceremony, face changing and alike had only been heard of or seen on the internet. So were other programs in the repertoire, including singing Dagu while biting candelabra with lighting candles (simplified Chinese含灯大鼓，pinyin: hán dēng dà gǔ), kongzhu playing, conjuring, Beijing opera: The Monkey King – Havoc in Heaven, and Chinese kung fu. It could be an experience of a lifetime while being kept at the edge of one 's seat with families, watching a live show that bounded with energy, excitement and stunning beauty at a time-honored landmark Teahouse.

　　The show was in full swing with the interaction between artists and audiences: 2 experts from Peking University got on the stage to take part in the mysterious conjuring; 4 learned to pose like Monkey King and tried their hands at Ruyi Jingu; 1 from Tsinghua University performed the tea ceremony; lastly, 3 were invited to be 10-minutes ' disciples of kung fu.

　　After the show, many guests expressed their thankfulness to BOTC for holding such a great event. Being closer to the amazing Chinese culture offered a strong sense of belonging to the city they live in. Activities of this kind are both rewarding and inspiring and they hoped BOTC could keep up efforts in this respect.

　　BOTC will strengthen the capital's function as the national center for international exchanges, and center for scientific discovery and technological innovation, and improve the ability to deliver familiarization services for foreign talents.
